Who would have thought that a previous Medical Arts Building will turn out to be one of the top Allied Medical Schools in Davao del Norte? The 24-year-old structure built in seven levels is what we presently recognized as Tagum Doctors College, Inc. – will unravel its own story written behind its seven green walls.

Back in the year 1998, Tagum Doctors Hospital Inc. (TDHI) had re-emerged in the humble hands of the Podador Couple as the new major stockholders. They also laid a foundation of a Medical Arts Building as an Annex to the said hospital.

Being a long time Academician, Engr. Emilia Podador aspires to augment an Academic Institution. She longed to establish an academe of medical professionals and like a hopeless romantic on chick flick movies; the engineer found a helping hand to her other half, Lemuel R. Podador.

The couple’s conceptualization is inspired by the growth of the hospital’s stockholding investment. For some, it is no easy task. Leaving the couple immersed in thought of a question – Is the institution capable to serve and lead with love? Or aim to guide with bliss? This may sound tough to answer, yet for the persons who inspired TDCians to build a legacy, dauntlessly refused to choose either one – for the Podador couple desired both.

In a matter of time, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued the Certificate of Incorporation to Tagum Doctors College, Inc. (TDCI) on the eleventh day of September 2007, granting the juridical personality to engage as a corporation.

A year after, Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), making it the first College program offered to students in the institution.

Two years thereafter, additional programs were offered namely as Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology, Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science and Bachelor of Science in Biology.

The first five years after gaining the school’s status laid the foundation for blossoming into a mature college as Tagum Doctors College has finally produced graduates. During these times we can say that TDCI has strengthens its foundation it become more even stronger when it finally had its own school anthem. The school hymn was composed by Chris Ji Idul and arranged by Lemuel Paculba, TDCI pioneering students. The hymn gives a sense of belonging, comradeship, pride and loyalty to the school.

Another major influence on the development of the school in recent years was in 2016 when the K to 12 innovation under the Department of Education (DepEd) memorandum emerges. Nevertheless, the institution warmly accepted the challenge and extended the Senior High School Program with the Academic strands of Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and General Academic Strand (GAS).

From a blank slate to turning a new and stimulating chapter of its Academic life, Tagum Doctors College Inc. upgraded its quality services, offering both College and Senior High School Programs.

Success after success came, great individuals had dedicated their leadership in keeping the institution’s mighty stand. One of the leaders is held as the majority stockholder in 2019, in what TDCIans remembered as fun-loving and a proud Muslim– Dr. Joel A. Padoran.

In 2019 the school turns upside-down due to Covid 19 pandemic, however TDCI remains faithful to its commitment with the influence because of the leadership of the current president Manuel Dennis E. Molina, MBA. His interest, enthusiasm, understanding, realism and vision were vital forces to embracing the demand of new normal educational setting.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, TDCI adapt the blended learning with on-site and virtual learning options for students. It’s not easy but Pres. Molina lead us the way. In recognition of the countless blessing and the astounding accomplishments despite pandemic predicaments, TDCians made the remark that the fondest dreams and promises were fulfilled through the overwhelming assistance of the Greater Power. Everybody worked hard as one big family, strongly united in making the Tagum Doctors College, Inc. an “Institution of the Future,” an “Institution of Choice,” and “Undeniably the Best,”
