TDCI Extends Service to the Community
As part of the Tagum Doctors College Inc. 14th year founding anniversary, the institution’s week-long celebration extended its service to the community. The event took place last September 10, 2021, in which they came to visit the children under the care in Gloria Christi Regis Center located at Lay Formation and Training Center, Seminary Drive Tagum City, and the elderlies in the Home for the Aged located at Purok Talisay 2, Visayan Village, Tagum City.
The community extension service activity was headed by the school’s Director of the Office of Community Extension – Professor Hiyasmin U. Gutierrez,LPT, RMT, MSMT; together with the school’s President – Manuel Dennis E. Molina, MBA; the members of the Management and Executive Committee, the Deans of the different departments: Rosa Vienna J. Ilog, RPh, MSPharm- dean of Pharmacy, Willyn B. Adrias, RN, MN – dean of Nursing, Rey Anthony S. Perez, RMT, MSMT – dean of Medical Laboratory Science, and Gwendelyn D. Barbon, RRT, MAED – dean of Radiologic Technology; NSTP Coordinator – Instructor Charlene Jane Alegre, QA officers, other Faculty and school’ staffs.
According to the Community Extension Coordinator – Prof. Hiyasmin U. Guitierrez, the community service extension served as TDCI’s simple way of giving back all the blessings that it had received through extending hands to the community of the abandoned street children and elderlies – fulfilling the school’s advocacy to serve and help others. There were 9 children occupants in the said child facility which were managed by the SdP (Sisters of the Poor), Sr. Gloria Aninao, and Sr. Karen Austria, and TDCI gave Jollibee snacks and gift bags loaded with personal hygiene kits as gifts to the children. A short program commenced, wherein the children showcased their talents of singing and dancing in front of the school’s admin, faculty, and staff. Mr. Manuel Dennis E. Molina, MBA, the school’s President, also gave a short yet inspiring message.
As a way of expressing their gratitude to the institution, Sr. Gloria Aninao of Gloria Christi Regis Center also gave a token to the employees of the institution. Right after the short program, the TDCI team went straight through the Home for the Aged located at Purok Talisay 2, Visayan Village, Tagum City to visit 52 senior citizens currently residing in the said facility. However, due to quarantine restrictions imposed in the facility – granular quarantine, the team was not able to enter and thus, just handed in the gift-packed lunch and disinfectants for the elderlies. Prof. Gutierrez added that since the visit had turned quickly, the supposedly two-day separate visit had shortened into one.
Furthermore, the offering of Mass Sponsorship (September 12) was also a success! One more goal is yet to be unlocked, as the institution will set the night with glam in their most-awaited Anniversary Ball. This will then be followed by an awarding ceremony.
Stay tuned TDCIans for more updates.
